Here is a picture of a real Tudor watch

the Tudor logo is a shield not a crown

Here is a picture of the Tudor watch with its book and case

Note that it has no Rolex Tag

But the Quickdrop watch claims to have the original Rolex Tag

Hello Timothy,

We are working on what is a Rolex Tudor timepiece. We appreciate your
bringing this to our attention. I will be calling Rolex US headquarters
directly tomorrow. Since we spoke, I have diligently begun to research
Rolex Tudor on eBay listings (including 170062318429) and Google. Below is
an initial sampling of related material:

Rolex makes Tudor -- just as GM makes Chevrolet. The word that Rolex and
Tudor split or that Rolex stopped making Tudor watches started circulating
in 2002. The truth of the matter is that Rolex ceased distribution of the
Tudor line of watches in the United States during 2002.

Although Tudor watches are manufactured by Rolex, the customary Rolex
serial numbers will not work in this case -- Tudor watches have their own
serial number sequence.

Rolex also makes a watch called the Tudor. They are basically the same
watches, some may have fewer jewels and they are not so highly advertised,
but in general the same watches, and still made by Rolex.

The Tudor watch is a product of it's parent company ROLEX.  It is made of
high quality components assembled, tested, and installed by Rolex. The
main (and only) difference between a Tudor watch and a Rolex watch such as
the DateJust is the movement itself.  Rolex brand watches use the high
grade Rolex movement while Tudor brand watches utilized a high grade Swiss
ETA movement such as the 2824-1,  inspected and installed by Rolex
technicians at the factory.  All other components including the crown,
case, dial, hands and crystal are manufactured by Rolex. The "California
Dial " Tudor watch in most cases has had it's dial refinished (not an
uncommon practice with vintage watches) and has the ROLEX  name
prominently added to the face of the dial, something that wasn't there
when it left the factory.

As you probably know, Rolex Watches are actually made using movements
ordered from a "contract" manufacturer of movements, the ETA factory.
Just as Rolex modifies many of those movements for their primary line
(Rolex) they also use an ETA movement (as do many other watch companies)
in their Tudor line.  Tudor watches, though, generally use the Rolex
Oyster case and crown, just like their more expensive siblings. What you
are getting with a Tudor watch, then, is  akin to what you get when you
buy a Crown Victoria instead of a Lincoln. You get much of the substance
without all of the prestige. For instance, whereas Rolex watches come in
platinum, gold and stainless, Tudors come in stainless and stainless with
a gold (or gold filled)  "shell" on the top of the case.

We will have more information after more research and our meeting with
Rolex US headquarters tomorrow.

Thank you,

Michele Gordon

Happy New Year Mr. Wells,

Diligently trying to resolve this matter in a timely manner, we are
working with the jewelry store to get you the Rolex Watch you are
requesting.

We are a trustworthy eBay seller, and we strive above all else to make the
customer happy.  Here are our options…

We can send you a 100% Authentic Rolex Watch.
This watch would feature the following:
Rolex Jubilee bracelet, featuring the Rolex Crown clasp
18K Solid Yellow Gold Fluted bezel, made by Rolex
Mother of Pearl Rolex Dial, not custom refinished by the jewelry store,
without after market diamonds added
Oyster Perpetual Rolex Movement, not the Tudor movement

This watch would look like the one in the eBay listing (250058478163) from
which you purchased your watch with the following exceptions:
The dial would not be custom refinished after market, thus not having
diamonds in place of the numbers.
The dial would still feature the Rolex name, without the Tudor name.
The bracelet clasp would feature the Rolex Crown rather than the Tudor
Shield.

If you want the dial to have diamonds in place of the numbers, it will
have to be custom refinished after market, diamonds being added by the
jewelry store.

You can be confident in the fact that we have neither tried to fool you in
the past, nor have we any intention of doing so in the future.  Our main
goal is to satisfy our customer.  We would not have the stellar 100% eBay
feedback score which we do if we were out to take advantage of our
customers.  In over 1,000 transactions on eBay we have not have such a
situation as this.  On EBay, the only evidence of a good business
reputation is a good feedback store.  We are sure that you did some
research as to our reputation and feedback score prior to making your
purchase.  You would not have gone forward with the transaction were you
not confident in our product and customer service.

If you would please get in touch with us, either through email or by
phone, and let us know which dial you would prefer, the original Rolex
dial, or the custom refinished diamond Rolex dial with the diamonds added
after market.  Once we have that information we can get with the jewelry
store, send you a picture of your watch, and the serial number from the
inside of your Rolex.  This is no problem at all.  In order to submit the
new watch order to the jewelry store, we will also need the exact wrist
size of your wife.

Thank you for your communication, and we are sure that this matter can be
resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.

Look forward to hearing from you soon,
QuikDrop of Atlanta

I asked for a 100% Authentic Rolex watch with a letter in front of serial number. When I talked with Will Gordon (Quickdrop) about the serial numbers, He stated " none of our watches have letters in front of our serial numbers". Will stated that they would purchase one for me.  Things that make you go Hmmm.  If you list 50-60 Rolex watches on ebay a week, why would you have to go out and buy an authentic Rolex.

Remember: if the serial number has no letter in front, it is made prior to 1987.

Hi Tim,

Attached are pictures of your Rolex.
The serial number is 5814182
The model number is 6917

Please let us know what you think.  We will need your payment information
again as we do not keep credit card numbers on file.  We will email you
with payment procedure shortly.  Your watch can be shipped as soon as we
hear back from you and payment clears.

Thank you,
QuikDrop of Atlanta

Look at the serial number: 5814182  Now if you go to the Rolex serial number chart, you will see the watch is between 1978 to 1979
